Palm-Oil FREE

Inspired by quality, this means not only the use of high quality and sustainable raw materials for our products, but also the responsibility to our environment.

Palm oil is extracted from the fruit of the oil palm and has become the most important vegetable oil in the world since 2005. In recent years, the production has increased in some cases by over 15% per year. Palm oil is used mainly in the food industry.

The main producing countries for palm oil are Malaysia and Indonesia, which produce about 85% of the world production. The palm oil is more profitable than other oil crops such as soybean, sunflower or canola. Palm oil requires less land area and is therefore cheaper.

On the other hand the palm oil boom has its price to the environment. To make room for the plantations, large areas of rainforest were cleared. Several years ago, the UN has called the rapid increases in palm oil plants as one of the greatest threats to the rainforest, and thus for the orangutans.

Between 1990 and 2005, 1.87 million hectares of palm oil plantations in Malaysia and more than 3 million hectares in Indonesia were newly created, more than half of the area was created by the destruction of rain forests!

Protection of rain forests and their biodiversity - one of the reasons why Patiswiss has decided to abstain from the use of palm oil in all the products we produce.

Based on numerous experiments and quality tests, we decided to introduce a new type of oil on the basis of different vegetable fats as a substitute for palm oil.

Patiswiss AG, your manufacturer of high-quality semi-finished products, is proud that since 1 January 2013 all of our Patiswiss products are palm oil FREE and we can thus make a sustainable contribution to our environment and against their destruction
